Saint Vincent Pallotti perceived the necessity for the formation of children and young people and was actively involved in their education, above all with the foundation of night schools in the city of Rome. It is worth remembering that the first half of the 19th century in the history of the education system was the period in which the foundations for modern systems of formation were put in place.One of the most important activities of Pallottine history in the various countries was the foundation and direction of different types of schools. Up until today the Society undertakes many activities in the field of educative formation. In the first place are the schools directly run by the Society. Among these schools an exchange of experience and a more and more intense collaboration is being developed. Furthermore, there is a group of individual Pallottines who carry out educational activity as teachers and professors in various schools and universities.

Il Segreteriato Generale per l'Apostolato sta organizzando un incontro dei Giovani Pallottini a Roma in occasione dell'Anno Giubilare 2025. Come Pallottini questo Giubileo è di grande significato per noi. Questo evento riunirà i giovani associati alla famiglia Pallottina in tutto il mondo per approfondire il loro cammino spirituale, ispirati dalla visione e dal carisma di San Vincenzo Pallotti, e per partecipare attivamente alle celebrazioni dell'Anno Santo nella Città Eterna.

Le numerose opere note di San Vincenzo tra i giovani, come la sua opera di catechizzazione dei ragazzi popolarmente conosciuta come "Opera di Ponterotto", i ritiri per i giovani sul Gianicolo, o il suo coinvolgimento nelle scuole serali per i bambini a Via Giulia, le sue attività nell'Università Romana, la direzione spirituale al Seminario Romano, la cura dei bambini orfani a causa delle epidemie di colera, l'opera di carità presso la "Pia Casa di Carità" per le ragazze, le processioni con i giovani soprattutto durante l'anno giubilare del 1825 ecc. sono solo alcune da menzionare. Nell'attuale scenario di conflitti, guerra, violenza e altre sfide, è un'area di apostolato molto importante per noi. Come Pallottini raggiungiamo migliaia di giovani nelle nostre Parrocchie, Scuole, Collegi, Case di Formazione, Centri di ritiro ecc.

Cari fratelli e sorelle,

Come pellegrini di speranza, in questo Giubileo invochiamo la Vergine Maria, ‘Madre della speranza’, perché accompagni il nostro cammino in questo Anno Santo perché la luce che dal cuore della Trinità splende sul volto di Cristo, (cfr 2 Cor 4,5) illumine ogni cuore e ci ability ad ‘accogliere misericordia’ e a ‘fare misericordia’ sul paradigm dell’antica storia del buon Samaritano. Ci proteggano i nostril Santi Patroni: San Vincenzo Pallotti e Beato Carlo Acutis.

Pallottine Youth Ministry:

The General Secretariat for the Apostolate is organizing a gathering of Pallottine Youth in Rome on the occasion of the Jubilee Year 2025. As Pallottines, this Jubilee holds great significance for us. This event will bring together young people associated with the Pallottine family from around the world to deepen their spiritual journey, inspired by the vision and charism of St. Vincent Pallotti, and to actively participate in the Holy Year celebrations in the Eternal City.

St. Vincent’s numerous well-known works among young people—such as his catechetical mission with youth popularly known as the “Ponterotto Project,” retreats for young people on the Janiculum Hill, his involvement in evening schools for children on Via Giulia, his engagement at the Roman University, spiritual direction at the Roman Seminary, his care for children orphaned by cholera epidemics, his charitable work at the “Pious House of Charity” for girls, and processions with youth, especially during the Jubilee Year of 1825—are just some of his contributions worth mentioning. In today’s context of conflict, war, violence, and many other challenges, youth ministry remains a vital area of our apostolate. As Pallottines, we reach out to thousands of young people through our parishes, schools, colleges, formation houses, retreat centers, and more.

Dear brothers and sisters,

As pilgrims of hope, in this Jubilee we invoke the Virgin Mary, Mother of Hope, to accompany our journey during this Holy Year, so that the light shining from the heart of the Trinity upon the face of Christ (cf. 2 Cor 4:5) may illuminate every heart and enable us to receive mercy and offer mercy, following the example of the ancient story of the Good Samaritan.

May our Patron Saints, St. Vincent Pallotti and Blessed Carlo Acutis, protect and guide us.
